So you dropped your cell phone in the tub, or maybe in the sink while doing dishes, or in a glass of juice. Well the first thing that comes to mind I'm sure is a few choice words not suitable for this article. However I know exactly how you feel. Relax for there is some hope for your phone.
Hopefully if you dropped it was off, but chances are it was on, and tucked under your shoulder as you were filling the tub or sink with water. Believe me, I have been there. I was filling the tub, for my kid's bath, when it slipped from under my shoulder and went straight in the tub under the running water.
You can if you want to speed the process up, if you are like me it is hard to go several days without a cell phone. After all they are such a big part of our lives anymore. So you can attempt to take your phone apart. If you attempt this be sure that you use the correct type of screw driver, and most of the time, you will have to pry the plastic cast apart. There are usually some plastic tabs that clip the two halves, the front and the back, together. Once you have the phone apart, you can take a hair dryer, on low heat and the lowest power setting and blow dry the phone.
If you use this technique, you want to be absolutely certain, that you have completely dried the inside of the phone, and it is still a good idea to wait at least one day before powering it up, or even charging it. A lot of people will try this technique, and will not wait the extra day; however some of the components in a cell phone can hide water in very small holes or crevasses.
Well there you have it, the best way to save your phone from drowning, however this is not a surefire, work 100% of the time technique. Sometimes there is just no hope for the phone; however this is the best technique I have found to at least attempt to save your phone.
If find that after following the above directions, your phone still doesn't work, I have a couple suggestions on where to find a replacement phone, and it may be a good time to upgrade your cell phone plane. If you want to shop around for a new phone and/or upgrade your cell plan I suggest Wirefly, they offer a huge selection of phones, and also offer service plans from all the major carriers like AT & T, Verizon Wireless, T Mobile and Sprint to name a few. If you are interested in a prepaid service plane, which is very affordable and easier to manage for a lot of people, especially if you don't plan on using your phone on an everyday basis, check out Tracfone, Tracfone is the nations number one prepaid cellular phone service.
